Dr Kugadas Sutharshan Has bagged American's Inspiring Urologist of the Year Award

I am  Dr Kugadas Sutharshan consultant Urologist. I was born in Jaffna on 01/11/1979 . My mother was a Consultant Dermatologist and my dad was Dental Surgeon , both worked in Jaffna Hospital for 29 years since 1979. I studied in Jaffna St. John’s college until my advanced level examination.

I got super merit rank in AL exam and entered to Sri Jayawardanapura Medical faculty. I have done my postgraduate education at University of Colombo and awarded as Consultant Urologist. Further I have done MRCS at Royal college of Surgeons England. I have completed my foreign training at Kings College hospital NHS foundation trust , Denmark hill London for a period of two years.

I have reported back to Sri Lanka in 2018 and board certified as Consultant Urologist. Initially I was appointed to General Hospital Kalutara where I have established the first Urology unit. In 2020 I have appointed to General Hospital Ampara where I served for 2 years. Since 2020 I worked as voluntary consultant at army hospital while I was in Ministry of Health and since 2022 I have been enlisted as Regular force officer to Army Hospital Colombo.

In my institution we are performing both endo urological and laparoscopic surgical operations with regard to kidney Ureter and Bladder. This institution serves only for the army soldiers, officers and their families. We are SERVING FOR NEARLY 500000 population.

In my carrier I have performed first laser prostatectomy in state sector in 2020 ( HoLEP) .
