I, P.R.M.M. Shanthakumar, Founder – Chairman of Flyinng Squad Ambulance service,  the eldest among the 10 children of Smt. Saroja & Shri. Mogan Naidu.

I had to start my career in this field at an early age, keeping aside my Education, helping my father, who was a Taxi Driver of a stand in front of Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, as we are the bread winners of the big family.

I used to see the bodies been carried away by folding them in the BOOT or in the back side of the Car. As a young boy, the emotions of the relatives who cry their heart out seeing the condition of their loved one put me under great trauma, which made me to give a thought and wanted to do justice for the departed soul and their loved ones. I got a chance to buy a second hand van and made possible alteration in the vehicle like a Hearse van to provide a dignified farewell for the departed soul.

With my hard work, vision, dedication and blessings of the Departed Souls I built up my career in the Ambulance and Funeral services and I have come a long way of 41 years and today “Flyinng Squad Ambulance Service” is rated as “the Best Ambulance Service Provider” in and around Chennai and Tamil Nadu, India.

My Journey started with a Single Ambulance cum Mortuary van with a fixed stretcher, then to a movable stretcher shifting patients from Chennai to Vizag, Orissa and other parts of India which would take 1-2 days minimum by then the body would have been decomposed. To do justice to the departed soul, I gave a thought and designed the “PORTABLE DEAD BODY FREEZER BOX”, which was unique at that time.

Significant Achievement:

The Dead Body Mobile Freezer Box was my brain child invented in 1996 and was patented vide Certificate of Registration of Design No. 180768 at The Patent Office, Calcutta – 700020, dated 11^th November 1999. Today, the Dead Body Freezer Box has become an indispensible aspect in the event of death in India. I am proud to see the wide usage of it across the Nation to preserve the deceased for the funeral ceremony. This has created a business opportunity to people in manufacturing of Freezer Box, rendering this service throughout India. This concept design remains the same since its inception and proved to be essential for mankind and created several job opportunities & entrepreneurship.

The Record Breaking Ambulance Of India - “ICU PLUS” – a completely Air conditioned Ambulance with ultramodern life savings equipment, fitted with Air Suspension, Automatic Stretcher Lift rail (Easy Loader), Bio Toilet, 2 sleeper berths for Patient Attendees, Mini Refrigerator for Medicines, Mini Pantry, TV, Wi-Fi operated Camera for LIVE monitoring of Doctors throughout the journey.

Our Funeral Service – Significance

Ø  Introduced Dead Body Freezer Box in the year 1996.

Ø  First Manufacturing Unit for Dead Body Freezer Box launched in Madhavaram, Tamil Nadu in the year 1998.

Ø  Exported Dead Body Freezer Box to foreign countries like Sri Lanka, Thailand & Malaysia & Maldives in 2004.

Ø  First Private Mortuary Operator to launch Freezer Ambulance (Hearse) in 1997 to transport the human remains. Mobile Freezer were initially powered by Generator & Inverter and later upgraded to automobile AC.

Ø  First company in the history to introduce separate side partition for Freezer Box in the ambulances to avoid using the Patient Cabin for the deceased. This model is now is coming as standard setup in most of the Ambulances in India.

Ø  We have introduced trend setting Hi-Tech Funeral Hearse in Chennai in 2018 to give a better and dignified Farewell to the deceased with Live Video Streaming facility for Funeral Ceremony which made people to participate virtually in the Funeral while they are remotely located.

Ø  Free Service to unclaimed bodies, Polio eradication camp, blood donation camps and social event.
