Personal Portfolio
I am Kishor Dutta Baral from Nepal born on 4 August,
1965. I have a small and happy family of
four with a spouse and two children. My wife, Kabita Baral, works as a school
teacher with her passion and dedication. While my daughter Dr. Sanskriti Baral
has been serving in Minipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara, my son Sanskar Dutta
Baral is pursuing his Diploma in East London University, UK.
My educational journey has been marked by a diverse range
of academic achievements, reflective of my commitment to lifelong learning.
After my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 1984, I pursued Intermediate in
Science (I. Sc.) at Amrit Science Campus from 1985 to 1986. After that, decorating
myself with bachelor degrees in Science and Law, I pursued a Master of Arts
(M.A.) in Political Science from Tribhuvan University between 1998 and 2001. After this, with keen interest in leadership,
in 2011, I earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education Management from
the Kathmandu University, School of Education, equipping myself with the
knowledge and skills necessary for effective educational leadership.
Commencing my professional journey as a Chemist at Bottlers Nepal Terai Limited in Bharatpur, Chitwan, from March 1989 to November 1990, I laid the foundation for my career in industry. Transitioning into the realm of education, I served as a Science and Mathematics teacher at Bhadrakali Higher Secondary School in Pokhara from January 1990 to July 1993. Building on my passion for education, I served as a Science and Mathematics teacher at Nava Prabhat Secondary School, Pokhara, in the morning session from July 1997 to January 2005. Simultaneously I embarked on a part-time Lecturer position at Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara from 2001 to 2006, where I contributed to the theoretical foundation of future professionals. Elevating my contributions to the community, I served as Program Coordinator at Nepal Habitat for Humanity associated with Habitat for Humanity International, Georgia, USA, from July 1998 to November 2004. This role allowed me to engage in impactful community development initiatives. Progressing into academic leadership, I got the position of Principal at Bhadrakali Higher Secondary School in Pokhara from January 2005 to June 2010.
Throughout this extensive experience, I amassed a
wealth of knowledge and insights into the intricacies of
the educational landscape. Motivated by a profound belief in the transformative
power of quality education, I embarked on a mission to establish a
community-driven educational institution. Subsequently, in the role of the
founder and campus chief at Bhadrakali Multiple Campus, I took the initiative
of collective effort to mobilizing the community, educationists, and various
stakeholders from July 2010 to January 2015.
The campus stands as a testament to the
collaborative spirit, with its smooth operation and commitment to providing a
quality educational environment. Bhadrakali Multiple Campus not only serves as
an educational hub but also instills hope for the future among the community
members, reflecting the positive impact of accessible and quality education in
transforming lives and fostering community development. These varied experiences
underscore my adaptability, leadership skills, and dedication to both industry
and the field of education.
Growing up in the influential presence of my father,
Kashi Dutta Baral, a renowned social reformer and political activist, I was
immersed in the values of politics and social engagement from an early age.
This upbringing served as a catalyst, gradually nurturing my interest in
political affairs. My passion for politics is rooted in a genuine desire to
contribute to the well-being of people, a focus that has been a driving force
throughout my journey. Inspired by those around me and fueled by a dedicated
and passionate mindset, I made the pivotal decision to transition from my professional
career in education to active politics. This leap led to my election as the
district president of Nepali Congress, Kaski, a prominent democratic party in Nepal.
As president, I have been vocal in advocating for positive change, spearheading
impactful campaigns such as BP Education, Mission Production, One Leader one Entrepreneurship,
Politics Free Schools and Colleges, and Forming Free Citizens.
These endeavors aim at transforming the landscape of
Nepalese politics, garnering substantial support from the public. My active
engagement with public issues, coupled with my involvement in widely supported campaigns,
provided the platform for me to participate in the parliamentary election held
in 2022 as a Nepali Congress candidate. While the election results did not
unfold in my favor, the experience proved invaluable, offering lessons,
insights, and knowledge that will undoubtedly shape my endeavors in
the days to come. This journey underscores my unwavering commitment to
fostering positive change and contributing to the betterment of society through
political engagement.
Through a culmination of work experience, extensive
study, and dedicated research, I have arrived at the conclusion that addressing
the unique challenges of our time requires a new generation of political
entrepreneurs. This is because political entrepreneurs possess the capacity to
introduce fresh ideas, innovative technologies, progressive policies, visionary
outlooks, and civic actions that are crucial for societal progress. I firmly
advocate that every political leader should actively engage in managing at
least one income-generating project to attain financial independence. This financial
autonomy, I believe, fosters discipline, courage, and transparency among
political leaders, contributing significantly to the creation of a
corruption-free society. In alignment with this conviction and driven by the
core value of ‘Message without Words,’ I have founded an Agro tourism business
called Pokhara Agro-Tourism Academy and Research Centre, Nepal (PAARC, Nepal),
where I serve as the Managing Director (MD).
I take great pride in successfully managing both my
business and political responsibilities without allowing either
to compromise the integrity of the other. PAARC, Nepal was established with the
vision of fostering innovative entrepreneurship in agro-tourism in Nepal
through training and research. Our mission is to connect rural Nepal with the
future of work, making PAARC, Nepal, a hub of rural innovation. I am committed
to realizing this vision and contributing to the transformative impact of
political entrepreneurship in our society.
My extensive engagement in schools, colleges, and
politics has significantly enhanced my oratory and public speaking skills,
gradually transforming me into a motivator and trainer. In this capacity, I
have successfully conducted a variety of training and motivational programs,
including Leadership Development, Developing Entrepreneurial Society,
Developing Political Entrepreneurship, Public Speaking, Team Building, Conflict
Management, Power of Positive Thinking, and Innovative Entrepreneurship in Agro
tourism.
These endeavors have firmly established my
reputation as a seasoned motivator and trainer. I attribute my current position
and accomplishments to active involvement in diverse social organizations and
cultivating strong relationships with individuals from various walks of life.
Reflecting on my journey, I hold in high esteem my roles as president in Lions
Club of Pokhara Bhadrakali, secretary at Human Rights Organizations of Nepal,
vice president of Nepal Teachers Association, central member of Family Planning
Association of Nepal, and coordinator at Habitat For Humanity International.
Each of these organizations has served as a significant milestone in shaping my
life. Furthermore, receiving American awards affiliated with the United
Research Council represents another noteworthy milestone in my life journey,
marking recognition and achievement in my endeavors. These experiences
collectively define my path, emphasizing the value of collaboration, service,
and continuous personal and professional
growth.
As a passionate individual for learning and
interpersonal relationship, I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Nepali, which
allows me to navigate diverse linguistic landscapes seamlessly. I take
immense pride in my publications, particularly in the realm - of education and societal well-being. Within the
area of education, my works have explored the erosion of moral values in
schools and strategies to address this challenge. Additionally, I've delved into
the concealed reality of corruption involving educators and parents, shedding
light on issues often overlooked.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of teachers, I've
underscored their significance in shaping the future through various
publications. Addressing contemporary issues, I've explored the relevance of
specific educational initiatives, aiming to contribute meaningful perspectives
to the ongoing discourse. Beyond formal publications, my insights on various
topics have found expression in numerous articles featured in local newspapers,
reflecting a commitment to engaging with community concerns.
In terms of my personal character, people of my
acquaintance describe me as amiable, polite, honest, energetic, and hardworking
in their own tongues. These qualities shape my approach to both personal and
professional interactions. I am not sure how farther and deeper, I have been
heard and created impact, but I am deeply honored to receive the ‘American's
Emerging Leadership Award,’ and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those
who have played a pivotal role in helping me achieve this recognition.
Receiving this award is truly a moment of great fortune, and I appreciate the
support and encouragement that have fueled my efforts. This tribute inspires me
to persist in giving my best in all my future endeavors.
Thank you
